Fueling the Mind Summer Employment

The Grant County Public Library has several part time temporary positions working with youth throughout the summer, 10:30 am - 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday during June and July.

We are seeking creative and mature applicants who can work independently at one of the 5 program sites. Must have dependable transportation. Experience working with children and computers preferred.


The Fueling the Mind program is a partnership between the Grant County Public Library and the Grant County Schools Foods Services. It provides a free lunch to the county's youth and library services throughout the summer. The program runs Monday through Friday from June 3 through July 26.

Library Page - Part Time

Must be at least 16 and currently enrolled in school.

Primary Responsibilities: Sorts, organizes, and shelves library materials. Assists in keeping the library neat and orderly. Reads shelves for neatness and proper order. Interprets the library's mission, policies, and procedures in a customer-responsive manner.


10-15 hours/week. Position requires evening and weekend work.

Teen & Young Adult Services Coordinator

The Grant County Public Library seeks an energetic, dynamic, enthusiastic, and service-oriented person to coordinate the Teen and Young Adult Services in Grant County. This full time position is responsible for programming, collection development, and reference skills to youth, parents/caregivers, and teachers. Must be able to work independently with general direction and oversight. This position may also work as a library generalist working with a variety of ages and assisting with other programs and services.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Plan, promote, and deliver programming to the targeted ages in the library and provide outreach services to the community.
  • Prepare and merchandise appropriate displays and maintain interactive areas.
  • Prepare booklists, website information, and promotional literature as assigned.
  • Assist customers with locating materials, using library resources and equipment, and providing readers services and suggestions.
  • Be aware of trends in literature, new technologies that can benefit targeted ages and staff.


  • Knowledge of current library trends.
  • Experience working with young adults and related initiatives
  • Knowledge of a broad range of young adult genres in literature
  • High level of comfort with technology.
  • Successful experience working with all ages.
  • History of excellent customer service to both library staff and patrons.
  • Ability to strategically balance the library's goals and customer needs.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, substitute for other staff, and attend meetings.
  • Ability to travel locally.
  • Ability and aptitude to teach and educate customers and staff in one-on-one or group situations.
  • This position requires working scheduled daytime, evening, Saturday, and Sunday hours.

Physical Demands:

    The nature of this work requires an ability to lift boxes and crates of books of up to 35 lbs and push filled wheeled book carts. This employee must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and reach above head, stoop, sit on the floor, and otherwise participate in physical activities with youth. Must have valid driver’s license.

Education and/or Other Requirements:

    ALA accredited MLS degree preferred, but will consider a combination of other applicable degree and experience.


    Compensation level is determined by qualifications and experience.
